Shattered

dug up this poem that i'd written years and years and years ago, when i first discovered that things with my dad were not all peaches and cream. The fact that it is still relevant to today stings.

Don't say you missed the drop of my heart coursing down my face
Don't say the time for truth is another time and place
Promises give me a kiss of hope, yet to be another of those shattered dreams
Once alive with vitality, now coming away at the seams

Don't take me in your arms, and promise me you'll try
Just to break another hope, unconsciously make me cry
You don't see me watch in subtle vain, as my heart wept
For another moment sweeping you up, another promise not kept

Don't laugh it off, shrug it clean, or wonder why my face is long
Don't brush it off like a piece of lint, assuring me i'm wrong
Ignoring the pain in my eyes as i plead for you change
slipping unknowingly through my fingers, my feelings out of your range

Don't act as though you try as you say, slumping in defeat
In my heart i see the truth the moment our eyes meet
People say it's up to me to do what i have to do
But can't you see we're breaking? Can't you see...i'm missing you.
