ah, yes. So after my whole ASL 'what am i doing with my life' post and whatnot....feeling a bit reassured etcetc...

Went to ASL III yesterday. me and the others were discussing about how the Professor's demeanor sorta changed after the first two weeks. Became less patient, showed disapproval, alot of critique before we even finished what we were signing, and all around unpleasant to spend 3 hours with.

Anyhoo, so I go up to do my homework assignment. When i'm going to learn not to sit closest to the professor because i'll have to go first, i'll never know.

Basically got reamed for memorizing my short story and not having it down on paper. None of us ever did, yesterday happened to be the first day she decided to bother collecting our three measly sentences.

During my story (now that i was flustered after being snapped at- It's not pleasant being snapped at by your Deaf professor) she signs to me, 'why you bother sign in the first place?'

Ouch. It could mean alot of things, but still. Ouch.

Then she sent me back to my seat before i finished, then summoned me back, and slapped an O handshape across her other palm, then signed homework.

Zero for homework. Charming.

Anyway, while waiting for my 4:00 Fingerspelling class, i snabbed Jeanette (High School ASL teacher, for those who don't know. I'm rather close to her) and got to chat with her a bit.

Her advice couldn't be better.

'Enjoy your night smile.'

I think the moral from the last entry trumps this one. Some people are just always going to be the douches that get you down. But there will be people like Jeanette, and the people from Last Hope who thanked you.
