"Necessary"
May. 28th, 2005 07:37 am{== This is my first DN Angel fanfic, inspired by the episode with Mio-san, the pool, and Satoshi's heroic rescue of Daisuke ^^. Oh, and the 'CPR'...Anyway, after the whole shibang, Sato and Dai have a chat.==}
“Hiwa…Hiwatari?”
Satoshi Hiwatari tilted his head at the familiar, hesitant voice. “Feeling better?”
“Y..Yes,” Daisuke replied. Satoshi could practically feel the red-head’s blush from behind him. No doubt the boy was recalling the pool incident, and what came after. “Thank you, Hiwatari.”
Satoshi turned to face his companion, who was indeed, blushing. “Don’t thank me. How am I supposed to catch you if you drown first?”
A small smile worked its way to the host of the Phantom Thief. “I guess...”
Silence huddled between the two boys, orbs of ruby and ice watching the descent of the sun.
“About the…” Daisuke started.
“It was necessary,” Satoshi responded in his usual calm. “Nobody else was qualified, or at least willing.”
”…Willing?” Daisuke’s eyes widened considerably, his blush returning full throttle.
//Now this is certainly a change in events.//
/Dark!/ Daisuke yelped in surprise.
//Way to go, lover-boy!//
Satoshi studied the other boy, lips formed in what could be an amused smirk. He envied Daisuke in this times…having a companionable relationship with his alter ego, and could only imagine what nonsense Dark Mousy was feeding his host to make him squirm so.
“Well,” Satoshi finally rose. “Have a good night.” It was formal, short, and for some reason, sent a pain at his heart.
Daisuke’s expression flickered, but he smiled genuinely, as always. “Yeah, uhm..night, Hiwatari!” he gave a little wave, seemingly unmindful of his unanswered question.
Satoshi nodded curtly, and turned to walk off soundlessly.
“Hiwatari!” Daisuke’s voice rang out. “Wait!”
Satoshi slowed, not to seem expectant. Expectant of what, anyway?
Daisuke ran up beside him, but stumbled characteristically over his shoelace, sending him against the blue-eyed boy’s chest. “Hiwatari..” he starts again.
“Yes, we’ve established that.” A trace of a smile ghosted over Satoshi’s lips.
“Ah...” Daisuke’s face flamed again, brought on by the new position. Satoshi’s hands were firmly on Daisuke’s shoulders, supporting him. The other’s face was inches away, showing no signs of hesitation or unease.
//Nice going, Dai!// Dark supported with a whoop.
“I was wondering,” Daisuke pressed on, righting himself. “Before…when you said it was necessary…but nobody was willing…If it were necessary…there wouldn’t be a difference, right?”
Satoshi inwardly chuckled at Daisuke’s babbling. “To get you breathing again, the CPR was necessary.”
At the term ‘CPR,’ Satoshi noted that Daisuke’s flush deepened. His eyes gleamed briefly in the darkening hall, and Daisuke swallowed.
“To do something on your own accord…” Satoshi leaned in, lips touching the warmth of Daisuke Niwa. “Is willing.”
Daisuke was oblivious to the whooping and teasing of Dark, staring at Satoshi with wide eyes, cheeks complimenting his eyes and hair.
“Good night, Niwa-kun.” Satoshi smiled lightly, and took in the boy before him.
Daisuke stood frozen, before Dark chided him, smirking, about the time.
“go..good night.” Daisuke stammered, and forced his legs to move in the opposite direction.
It was not a willing move.
But it was necessary.
