Tonight was proably the most...interesting night of my life.

I went to dinner with Grandma, and when we went to pay, she realized she didn't have the keys to my mother's Mazdaa. After much much searching, i darted out to see if she locked the keys in the car.

Sure enough, the keys were in the car.

and the car was running.

For over an hour.

and the doors were locked.

Of all nights, i didn't have my cell. Grandma didn't have hers.

So we treated ourselves to the diner's phone.

The fire department was called.

The police.

911 (that was a big hesitation on all parts).

Nobody could help us.

At one point, the man at the diner had called the cops, and i hear.

"What? no..no, the granddaughter isn't in the car, no. You can't help then? Thank you."

And suddenly...Grandma, rooting through her pocketbook, pulls out a special silver object...

The cell phone she thought she forgot.

So i spent time trying to contact mom and dad, to no avail. Both cells were off. they were at an appointment.

so i kept trying, and the man helping us suggested running to the gas station next door.

(Cards aside, Grandma did have a AAA card. Too bad it was my SISTERS)

The guys returned with crowbars and the likes, but couldn't unlock the still-running Mazdaa.

Grandma, by now, is outwardly panicking.

A man walks over to see if he could help. He was the same guy that interrupted me during my newspaper reading, and walked away because there was no Newsday.

He asked if we lived locally. We did, naturally, by about 10 minutes.

Next thing i know, i'm crushed in between my grandmother and a really hairy stranger in a 2 seater pick up, and directing him to our house.

Luckily, i'd brought my house key, and i ran into the house to get a spare set of car keys.

Lauren to the rescue!

Ahem.

I stayed home, not wanting another ride with nice hairy stranger man if i didn't need to.

Still contacting parents.

still no answer.

Of all days...rrr.

Grandma arrived home safely in the Mazdaa, but instead of heading back out to go to the bookstore and whatnot as planned, we settled in home.

The end.

PS: 2 seater pickups with 3 people and having the 'girl' wedged in by the stickshift= not fun. i was worried i was going to kick the shift into reverse on the road.

heh.

PPS: My burger took too long anyway
