This isn't usually like me. Especially for a fandom i've never posted fic for. Written, yes, but...lurking.

For any 'Sherlock' fans, Fearful Symmetry is an absolute must read by [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic  with a follow up World Without End

I'm such a longtime lurker of her fics- i got into them via her Good Omens fics. My "modern" day [livejournal.com profile] katieforsythe

Go. Read. Now.

For anyone who hasn't seen 'Sherlock', scamper off and remedy that, or read the Good Omens fics.

That's an order.

Don't make me crack the whip.

...this rec is kind of the best birthday present I've gotten in recent memory. Oh my gosh, thanks! *squee* And I added you back earlier, obviously, when I noticed you'd turned up <3 I've gained more new flisters in this fandom, I think, than anywhere else, and you're all lovely.

Thank you, we try. I think.

I sat and read those without moving. Thank you for your contribution to society

You're such an enabler.

Very true, I think we all do.

Well, in future, if you need to move, please do! There are such necessaries as cups of tea and loo breaks. And sometimes fresh air, but I'm not terribly good at remembering that one...

Just so you know, I love your icon.

The image comes from this brilliant source. I'm a Hamlet freak, and it's probably the most fitting art on the subject I've ever seen!

Your icon has me in stitches, so the feeling is mutual!

THIS ART IS AMAZING. How have I never found this person before? I'm always on Etsy.

Oh good! Christmas break just started and I have a feeling I'm going to need something to occupy my time. XD Thanks for the delightful rec!

I hope this isn't a weird question, but would you describe your tattoo? That's awesome. I've got three tattoos, but none of them have to do with Hamlet. Yet.

I tried to Photoshop a hat onto my default, but it looked rubbish, so I binned it.

I saw opening night of the Jude Law production in London; it was amazing. It had the most amazing sets/innovative staging that I've ever seen in a production to date. I just a week or so ago saw the Rory Kinnear production that's currently on at the National Theatre. Can't say I was terribly impressed, although Ophelia was excellent.

I heard the Law production did very well in New York :)

It was beyond amazing. Mindblowing

I can't decide whether the absolute best I've ever seen was either the 2005 Shakespeare On the Common production in Boston (Jeffrey Donovan played Hamlet), or the 2005-2006 English Touring Theatre Production starring Ed Stoppard. But the Law production sticks out in my mind for best sets/staging/blocking, hands down. And Law himself was better in the role than I was expecting, by far!

Mine was actually the first tattoo I ever got. I have "The rest is silence" on my right hip. I typed it out on this old typewriter that my mom used to have in her office. When I was little, I used to write little stories on it, so I figured there was no better font in which to get my tattoo. :)

What are your tattoos? I always love hearing people's tattoo stories.

That's awesome, especially re: the typewriter! Oh, Horatio. H/H is another one of my favorite pairings to write, which becomes quite obvious if you look at my floating post. My heart always breaks for him.

Right hip: Egyptian hieroglyphs for eternity. Left shoulder blade: Egyptian Feather of Ma'at. Underside of right forearm: Hopi water/thunderstorm glyph.

Me too. Hopelessly addicted.

Thanks! I also ship H/H. I have ever since I first read the play, but it was solidified after I saw one particular production at the Folger in D.C. and found out that the guys who played Hamlet and Horatio were married in real life. Life imitating art or art imitating life? haha

Those sound very cool! Any plans for future tattoos? I have no less than two. haha

From: [identity profile] irisbleufic.livejournal.com
OH MY GOD I HEARD ABOUT THAT PRODUCTION. I am bloody envious of anyone and everyone who's seen it. Do you know if it was recorded?

No plans at the moment, as the one on my arm is only a month and a half old.

Date: 2010-12-19 10:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] baba-o-reily.livejournal.com
I have no idea if it was recorded but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I have no clue where one would find it though, as it looks like its not on their website. :\

Ah, yes, that would be pretty soon. haha. I have to keep reminding myself that tattoos are addictive and that I need to have work-safe skin. Maybe one day when I'm my own boss...

(Mind if I add you? Hamlet-lovers with tattoos are always totally awesome in my book.)

Do you know, I heard that there was a D.C. production in which the amazing Horatio I saw in the '05 Boston Common production also did the role. I wonder if the Horatio you saw there was the one I saw in Boston. That would break my brain a little; he was the best Horatio I've ever seen. I forget his name, but I think I remember where it can be looked up...

Pedro Pascal. His name was Pedro Pascal.

YES YES YES. HOLY SHIT. Sorry, I just got a little overexcited. haha But yes, Pedro Pascal was Horatio. Sigh He was wonderful. I wanted him to follow me around and say wise things to me.
