Cause everything is Rent...
Last night, Anthony, Adam and the cast surpassed any expectations i'd had for seeing Rent the second time. Even Tamyra Gray (American Idol) as Mimi floored me. As in..floored me.
Seeing Anthony and Adam back in their originated roles gave me a rush of something...it's hard to describe. It's like...listening to the OBC album then realizing...wait...those voices...their faces are in front of me. in real time.
I'm not very coherent at the moment.
I'm not a squealy fangirl. I'm not.
Until Mom tells me not to bolt out of the theater when the show ended. (As if i would have)
'Cause we (We being me, mom, and cousins/fellow theater-goers Allison and Melissa) were going backstage.
to meet Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.
Meet. Meet. Meet. And i apologize to
zekkass for totally copy-pasting what i wrote to you, but it saves time. ^^
Anthony came out first. He chatted, hugged, signed things, took pictures, but it was his night to face the gauntlet. What they did was every night the one of them would go to the crowd and deal with the stage door mob, while the other snuck out the other way. This way, every other night one would get home at a reasonable hour after a loooooooooong day.
"We do our show," Anthony said. "And going out the stage door...that's another two hours. You can't ignore people."
Adam came out next, and he was grinning. He looked so...young...like he was still Roger, only a little less punk and a little more prep in a red polo-t shirt and jeans. (I just went all Joan Rivers, sorry)
It was his night off, so to speak, but he was relaxed as anything, holding conversations, laughing, taking pictures, and everyday guy. Mom asked how he kept a straight face during his entrance applause, and Adam just beamed.
"I'm arrogant," he said, rather proudly. "I know it's coming. But the feeling is still there."
(On that note. Christina-
onmyowntoolong I'd judge Adam's applause time as about...a minute thirty to two minutes. the audience was good about that. Same for Anthony...give about 10-15 more seconds)
We schmoozed some more. I did make a comment about the entrance applause and Adam laughed. He caught sight of my t-shirt at one point (I was wearing my Life Cafe shirt...yesterday morning i thought it might be too cheesy)
Adam thought otherwise. He thought it was great that i wore it...apropo and v. creative.
Anyway, i welcomed him back, and we all headed out together, basically. To our surprise, Adam walked out with nary a sighting. All eyes were on Anthony and the others.
Anyway, more when my cousin sends me the pics...
When my scanner stops being jealous, my signed playbill will be up
